If you thought PVP'ers are complaining too much wait till you see the screaming PVE'ers would do if your suggestion was implemented.
I'm all for it though. I play both PVP and PVE. But PVE'ers in general tend to be very close minded on these sort of things.

For you pve-ers who don't seem to understand WHY this is so bad, let me explain:
THe ENTIRE prupose of the PvP Character idea (and skill unlocks) is so you can delete and remake whatever new character you need without having to grind out the PVE. That means virtually ALL pvp-ers delete and remake their characters regularly (ie more than once per day for most of us). Along goes the rewards into the trash bin.

The functionality is still there my friend...you can still reroll/remake/rewhatever you want to do....now you just need to be a bit more conscious of what items you unlock....i truely do understand that you think its a terrible idea etc. BUT you are missing the point....you are still able to do everythign you wanted to do with a pvp toon before the update...the skins and stuff are for "leet" pvpers...just as all end game content in the pve section and the HoH chest in HA.....now GvG and 1v1 have elite rewards....i would imagine that most top guilds that gvg have 1 or 2 classes that they prefer to play..... Bob from [BOBS] likes to play a warrior in most rated gvg matches there for he can NOW create and keep a PvP warrior with unlocked items on it....
so in other words....the New skins isn't meant for Normal players...its meant for true hardcore pvpers...just like DoA isn't meant for normal players its meant for hardcore pvers.
I do feel for you...and for myself...because i do alot of pvp....but i am not elite at pvp...so those rewards are not for me....just like i do alot of pve but the DoA and a few other rewards are not for me.....I don't HA so the HoH rewards are not for me....
EDIT: VV i agree charr armor sounds stupid...now i am going to have to buy a different head piece.

Gaile, why did ANet change the name of Ascalon armour to Elite Charr armour...? I think it sounds kind of cheap and not cool.=|
I'm not sure what other people think about it, but I think it should be changed back to 'Ascalon' armour.=P
Anyway, the rest of the update is great, can finally apply Insignias to my armour pieces.=D

Well .. I can only speak for my guild ... but you are way off the mark here...
We ARE the hardcore pvp-ers you speak of .... We are all rank9+ ... r1-2 champion ... and no one has more than 1-2 pvp slots ...we delete/remake our toons all the time ... so I'm not sure where you are going with this..

big yay for most of it....massive boo for the PvP update...seriosuly, why even bother...
the unlock system with tiers of uprades (basic, fancy, exotic) is a good enough reason to make it account based
...........
its not a "everyone will have FoW armor" (and i doubt anyone is in a possition to tell us if thats even avalible)
if anyone had 1000 reward points laying about...lucky them

Saelfaer, they didn't announce the Urgoz changes until much later than they announced everything else. They updated the page hours later because everyone people found out pretty quickly anyway.
On the topic of updates, what about some skill balancing?

A good update as far as i'm concerned.
I don't pvp that much, so i wouldn't know how gimmicky the pvp skin systems is right now, but as far as i heard it it's rubbish the main Advantage of a pvp char is that you can recreate them real fast. (and now lose skins if you do)
Urgoz had it coming, to easy to get decent skills, but didn't suspect suicide is no drop tactic (more something of only target players for suicides).
Insciptable armor ftw, now i can finnally re-rune my old armors to full use!!

There was no skill balancing, they added a new option to pvp and ppl are upset that this new things (that you don't have to use) is bad?
We don't know how long this feature has been planned or how easy or hard, this could be in development for use with EOTN and was implemented earlier for all we know.
Also this may actually get PvE's to try out PvP (adding new blood and popularity), especially if unlocks some how interact with the hall of monuments -> GW2 unlocks.
(edit/update) if you *lose* a skin and have to re-pay when deleting a character, then I do understand, and don't think it's worthwhile.

They should have just increase the price a bit and make it unlock instead of purchase :/
It is really a terrible system.

The rewards is for high level GvGers. High level GvGers usually have core members who each has their preferred role/class. They rarely switch, for e.g, in a match for EW, most of the time, the War will be the exact same guy in their previous maches. Same goes for monks. They dun't need to reroll.
Rerolling a PvP char allows versatility, but it is not an obligation to reroll PvP constantly. It was before, but not anymore with the new PvP system when you can create armor and stuff without rerolling.
People rerolled their char constantly because they had nothing to lose. Now, they'll have to think more about it. Nothing prevents you to have a Prestige PvP char (your favourite) and equip it with all the fancy weapons, and never delete him since you will be playing that guy from time to time while having anther PvP slot for versatility, in case, your team ask you to play another class.
In other words, this does not suddenly cripple anything, nor does it remove any rewards. It only add a new option to the system, it allows you to be able to get different skins. If you dun't want to create another PvP slot, or can't, well, that's your own problem.

"Pinging" your build will now cause it to display as non-clickable code. This appears to begin to happen on your second "ping". The first "ping" functions properly. "Pings" that were incorrectly displayed when first displayed also appear correctly if you look at your chat history after re-zoning. If you wait after the first and failed second ping you will be able to ping the third normally showing the template like in the first click.
|
^^i hate this change, i cant ever see other ppls builds unless i was in the group the 1st time they pinged it

I do like this armor update though (took a while but yay). I just think a-net is pulling the "hide a really bad updadte under a really good one" again.

And most of them are already running such fixed guys as PvE character so they could wear prestige skins. Flexibility on a PvP slot was the whole thing everyone was looking for.

That's the missing line.
So, because an area was farmed (not by me) due to ANet's incompetence and shortsightedness in setting up Hard Mode, they then proceed to "simply" make the monsters nodrop/noxp mobs. So this great game design includes mobs that successfully use their skillset, whom the player defeats by killing them before they one hit insta gib them, by using whatever tactics necessary, which is all fine and good. So why change it? because a few people do endless runs for minor merchant fodder in the exceedingly rare shot at a rare skin? How is that different from anywehre else?
Nice, elegant solution...
|
Question, does any monster who sacs themselves to death give you loot? YES!
The monsters should drop loot/xp, but not sac on spirits (Basically they wouldnt see spirits as enough threats to kill themselves, or prioritize only certain spirits)

Yes. I know that they already run a PvE character in their GvG. The point is you can keep PvPing while not having to reroll. Make a prestige PvP and treat it as the PvE characters. As simple as that.
Some people dun't want to play PvE but has a PvP char that they dun't reroll. Instead they have multiple PvP chars. This is a chance for them to actually get the skins without PvEing.
Nothing prevents you from creating many pvp chars. So please, dun't talk about loss of flexibilty, because it's still there. You only have to keep a character spot for versatility. Ain't that hard, is it?

And that's the whole point. Us PVP-ers ALREADY have PVP-ready PVE chars for our most oft-played classes. So the new system gives us nothing of value whatsoever.
It's not that we're complaining about getting something for nothing ... we're complaining because:
1. If they were going to take the time and effort to implement a pvp rewards system ... why not make it usable???
OR
2. Spend the development time on something else that IS usable (when WAS the last skill balance anyway???)
I don't understand why they would voluntarily spend time and effort (read: money) on something that is useless to the community at large....
